The Seed In Me

Proverbs 15:3b
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, and He sees … the good.

Have you ever felt like all the good things that you work so hard to accomplish will never be seen or acknowledged?  If we are honest with ourselves....I believe that everyone at some point or another has felt this way.  We grow weary in our well-doing because we cannot see a reward on the horizon for the labors of our love.

However, it is important for us to understand that these deeds are like seeds planted in the ground.  They are not ordinary seeds that produce only seasonal plants, which grow up quickly and then begin to wither.  These seeds are the seeds of trees.  They are going to produce very strong and lasting results in our lives and the lives of those around us.  Furthermore, it is also important for us to understand that these seeds sometimes linger in the ground for years before they begin to sprout.  The particular folks that sow the seeds of trees are not your fair weather farmers.  No, these are those who make it a normal part of their lives to serve others, in good times and bad, when there is plenty, and when things are scarce.  These are those, who day after day after day of diligent care and concern for others receive over a lifetime the rewards of their faithfulness.

Let me encourage you with these words.  No matter how many good seeds we sow in our life, God never loses sight of even one of them.  He knows their particular gestation periods.  He watches over them carefully and waters them gently.  It is God that makes himself steward over them.  If there was one individual that has an investment in our hope, it must be the Almighty.  It is His enterprise of charity that changes the world around us for good.  It is the sugar that sweetens the bitter things of this life.

Finally, Jesus tells it to us in these words, “Give and it will be given back to you again with a good measure, pressed down, compacted together until it begins to run over.  With what type of measurement you give, it will be measure back to you with the same.”  It is imperative that all of us understand that God certainly sees our failures and sin.  However, he also sees more intently our good, and has made himself a personal overseer concerning the seeds of these good deeds...and will without a doubt make sure that they flourish in their time and season!
