Violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.
Good people tend to have a desire to be a blessing to others and take great care not to offend or cause hurt. Yet…evil people tend to be violent and care little about the consequences of their actions upon the lives of others. Because of their selfishness, they are reprobate in their conscience, and therefore, incapable of feeling remorse. This of course gives way to floods of even more actions of evil, corruption, violence, and death.
The writer here equates this violent attitude, as one overwhelmed or taken over. It refers specifically to the mouth. However, the mouth of man is only a microphone of his heart. It speaks concerning the content of the seed of a man’s heart… the true essence of who he really is on the inside! As I read the newspapers and listen to the news from time to time, I am always amazed at the depths of the wickedness of man. Man is capable of still untold evil deeds…deeds yet not done! He can become like a volatile undiffused atomic bomb…one in which, if left to his own, could destroy millions with one swipe of his or her hand.
Tragically, as a result, there have been times throughout all of human history when wicked men rose up within themselves to bring great tyranny upon mankind. Primarily, this oppression always begins through the propagation of a dark cloud of both the subversion and perversion of the truth. Then finally is brought to fruition through pride, hate, and vengeance…and always results in the senseless destruction of thousands upon hundreds of thousands of people!

Blessings crown the head of the righteous…
On the other hand, the proverb here ascertains that the mannerisms of good people become a crowning asset to them. It procures incredible favor and unsolicited authority with those around them. It gives them the ability to influence and lead others, because they are perceived by society as trustworthy and kind. If we expect to enjoy any lasting favor and influence…it is important that we are a blessing to others…as often as the opportunity presents itself to be.
Finally, let us be comforted with this historical truth! In times past… when wickedness raised up its ugly head…the tide has never ceased to turn in our favor. God has always been faithful by his magnificent grace and power to move upon the hearts of good men and women, who in the face of tremendous adversity and a flood of evil …stood up with great courage and resolve…spoke truth into the darkness and deception… and consequently…thoroughly defeated their enemies…many at the cost of their very lives!
If there is one lesson that history teaches us, it is that evil, though as powerful and hurtful as it may be at times… ultimately will not triumph in this world. There is only one power that will turn the tide of evil back…it is the power of “Good”…and only one head that will be crowned in this world and the one to come…and that is the head of “Blessing”! Who is that one good and blessed man? It is he who has made God the Creator his Father…Christ his Lord…and his Word of Truth his unfailing and eternal guide!
