Proverbs 15:33
To fear GOD and his truth…is the instruction of wisdom…and before honor is humility.
God’s laws are woven into the very nature of the design with which He created the spiritual aspects of this world. And whether we submit to them or not, they are the mechanism which govern life inside the boundaries of it. Presented here are two such laws eternally woven into the life which we live…the law of godly fear…and the law of humility!
The fear of God’s authority, and a deep respect for his truth is healthy. Without such fear and respect in our society, we could not live in peace. We need boundaries to protect ourselves from others, and even from what we ourselves are capable of doing. In fact, it is impossible to live within the confines of Wisdom without this fear in our lives. The particular areas that are not subjected to wisdom inevitably will be lived recklessly, and as a result…will suffer certain and sure consequences for it. You show me a society with little or no respect for common sense law … and I will show you a society full of violence and confusion!
Secondly, the writer talks of the connection between honor and humility. This also is one of those spiritual laws engraved in God’s design of this world. People that selfishly strive for honor without the regard of others, soon find themselves at the bottom of the ladder…instead of the top. Seeds do not grow above the ground…but beneath it. To attempt to promote one’s self is to interrupt the natural process of the germination of one’s seed. Even if per chance a seed would happen to sprout above the ground, its life expectancy is somewhat short because its root has no depth from which to draw the necessary sustenance to survive…and no sooner has it grown up…but it quickly withers away and dies.
On the other hand, there are those that patiently and selflessly do their jobs with consistent diligence. They remain calm, steady, and faithful right where they were initially planted. Their seed is able to properly germinate in the hole where it was buried beneath the soil…out of the plain sight of the crowd. They have strong deep roots, with the potential to produce a tremendous amount of fruit! Then after much time passes...to those watching above, success seemingly suddenly burst upon the scene out of nowhere! These fruitful plants that have sprouted from patiently faithful seeds...are those that focus on improving their own performance, productivity, and service to others...whose lives quickly turn from ordinary milk to extraordinary cream. We all know that the cream differentiates itself from the milk by a natural process...not a forced one.
Let us all live a life that has a deep respect and honor for God and his laws...and an honorable life of humble and faithful service...and without any doubt...I guarantee you...that the laws of nature will take their course to go about blessing your life...just as God intended them to do!
